Ingredients:

Fruit layer...

6 large apples, cored and sliced (golden delicious or granny smith)
1/2 c. orange juice
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

(Note: You can peel apples or leave the skin on, both ways are fine!)

Crisp topping...

1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. flour
6 T. butter

Directions:

Stir orange juice over apple slices and coat well. Arrange apples in a lightly greased baking dish.

In a small bowl, combine 1/2 c. of sugar and the cinnamon. Sprinkle over the apples.

To make topping, combine remaining sugar with flour and salt. Cut in butter just until mixture becomes crumbly.

Spread crumb mixture over apples and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is lightly browned. Serve warm, with or without a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Variation: To make a Peach Crisp, use 2 lightly drained canned peaches packed in water or fruit juice. Yum!
