My husband and I love to read, but cannot afford all the books that can be devoured at the local bookstore. We take one week night and one weekend evening to peruse books and magazines while sipping hot or cold drinks. This also helps us stay out of restaurants without feeling like we are trapped in this unstable economy.

In order to give the bookstore business and give us a financial break, we get either a soft drink or a hot cup of coffee and some kind of snack. Since the economy is down, bookstores are now offering a second drink for about one-third the price of the first drink. Everyone benefits…we get to relax with some great reading material and the bookstore gets approximately $10.00 for an evening out with drinks and snacks.
We save a lot of money by eating lunch or dinner before leaving the house, we get some scrumptious dessert, keeping the belly expanding sweets out of the house, and we get to peruse all the shelves of great writers.
We can weigh whether purchasing a book or a magazine subscription is within our means before making the commitment beforehand at the bookstore.
And we get away from our cell phones, noisy dogs and the television!
