Finding Time for Self-Care
Many women, especially mothers, often do not spend enough time taking care of themselves. I know as a mother, I go straight into cleaning and cooking mode without thinking how to ever pamper myself. However, we all deserve to indulge in a little self-care.
* * *
Sometimes all it takes is a little reminder and some self-care ideas that are easy and quick, like this recipe. What I like about this hand scrub is that you likely already have all the ingredients in your kitchen, it only takes 2-3 minutes and you can do it while the spaghetti boils or the potatoes bake. It's that simple.
Here's what you need to know.
Ingredients needed:
1 tsp coffee grounds
1 tsp brown sugar
1 tsp coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon of honey (optional)
Use unused coffee grounds as the caffeine is stronger which has anti-aging benefits for the skin. If you do not have brown sugar, white sugar is fine, just add a little more honey to help it stick.
Step One: Combine the coffee grounds and brown sugar in a bowl.
Step Two: Add the coconut oil in, making sure it thoroughly mixes in with the dry ingredients.
Step Three: If you want a little thicker mix, fold in half a teaspoon of honey. Any type of honey will do, from raw to creamy and regular.
Step Four: Exfoliate hands in the sink, rubbing the mixture in circles on the skin and in between fingers.
Step Five: Rinse off. Use soap if you do not like the feel of coconut oil, or only use water if you want to have moisturized skin.
Now you'll have smooth, soft and moisturized hands. The coffee acts as a natural exfoliator, as does the brown sugar. The coconut oil moisturizes the skin and honey helps keep it that way.
This is a great way to sneak in a little self-care, even during busy times. When you have more time to devote to pampering, make a larger quantity of this scrub and use it in the shower for a body scrub. The coffee is great at reducing the look of cellulite. You can even use it as a face mask as caffeine helps fight wrinkles.
You deserve time for taking care of you. Why not start with this simple, yet nourishing Coffee and Sugar Hand Scrub?
