Frugal Fall Decorations: Blessings Tree

Submitted by Nicole Manners of California

Blessings tree 1

"Harvest Blessings Banner"

After seeing my friend put together something similar, my children and I spent an afternoon in the brisk fall weather picking up leaves of different shades, then shared hot tea while we put together this fun fall banner to decorate our kitchen door.

All you need is a length of butcher paper, crayons/colored pencils, glue and tape, and of course all the leaves your heart desires. Draw and color your tree trunk, write your message along the sides, and glue the leaves (taping the stubborn ones) at the top to finish the top of your tree. Be sure to include some leaves at the bottom and maybe even some that are "falling".

This was a great way to get the kids outside on a day we might have all decided to keep warm instead. They really enjoyed taking their baskets and filling them with leaves and pine cones. Best of all, this is a craft that can be done as early as September, and left up till after Thanksgiving, when it's time to put up Christmas decorations.
