Halloween Decorations: Mad Scientist

Mad scientist workshop 1

"Mad Scientist Workshop"

Every year we take turns hosting a Halloween costume party with a group of close friends. This year it was our turn to host and we turned our dining room into a mad scientist laboratory. We used mostly items that we had on hand, and cleaned out old food items from the pantry and combined them to make "experiments." We had a great time doing it!

1. Gather items from around the house that can be used in new ways. I used stacks of old books, different types of lamps, monster toys, wire domes, a magnifying glass, several empty jars in various sizes and fake webs.

2. Mix the food items and food coloring to make unique and grotesque combinations. For example: spaghetti and garbanzo beans layered with tomato paste or tapioca and condensed milk with blue food coloring. Use your concoctions to fill the jars.

3. Add the jars to the stacks of books and lamps and arrange to look like an old work space. Add spider webbing to make it look even creepier. Have fun and be creative!
