"My Very Own Rudolph"
This unique ornament is my most favorite to place on the tree each year! My then 9 year old son immortalized our dachshund by drawing a picture of him and adding a Rudolph red nose to Buster’s likeness.
The drawing was sandwiched between self-adhesive clear adhesive paper to protect it. Twigs were collected from our yard and glued together to frame his artwork. After raiding my craft box for the gold glitter and scrap ribbon, my son added some sparkle as the finishing touch.
Buster, our dachshund, is no longer with our family, but each Christmas when we place this special ornament on our tree, we remember the good times shared between a dog and his boy, as well as the creative, thrifty nature of a child!
One day I will pass this ornament along to my son and I hope that each year when he places it on his own Christmas tree, he’ll smile and take a moment to share the stories of Buster with his own children.
