"Our First Ornament"
After 7 years together, Stephen and I were finally able to move in together. My boyfriend wanted to commemorate our first Christmas living together. He wasn't able to find one that expressed how much finally having a place together meant to us. He thought about getting a custom ornament made, but thought making it himself would be extra special. So, "Our First Ornament" is a "snap-together" bulb that contains a picture of the sign in front of our apartment complex with a handwritten "Our First Christmas at our First Home".
This ornament started with a picture, printed at a self printing station. The 2-piece snap-together bulb is from Michael's craft store. They carry a ton of different sizes and shapes.
First, he placed the picture in one side of the ornament, facing out, and then filled the ornament with Easter basket "grass". Being a crafter myself, he didn't have to buy that, as it was already in my craft supplies. He closed the ornament, made sure the picture was in the correct position, no need to glue it, the "grass" holds it in place.
On the other side, he wrote with a silver paint pen (see photo below), and tied a bow (with ribbon from my craft supplies) to hang it.
The whole ornament only cost about $6 but means so much to me. I will always cherish it as it symbolizes our first Christmas living together and it was made by my creative, but not so crafty boyfriend. The thought and effort put into is worth so much more.
