While trying to cut corners on the family budget the electric bill was getting out of hand. I was always trying to make sure all the lights are off and TVs and other appliances are unplugged while not in use.

I have put up a clothes line instead of using our dryer, yeah, clothes are not quite as soft but you get used to it. I seemed to be doing all the work. So in order to get my four children ages 4 to 18 in on the action, I sat them down, told them we needed to conserve energy and explained that we had to lower our electric bill.
For each month that our bill decreases I give the children a special day out!
They love the library (it's free) or the local swimming hole (it's free and a change from our back yard pool). I'm getting creative in giving them an incentive to help cut our energy consumption.
Now they are always looking for ways to save and I'm spending a lot less time yelling "Someone, please turn off the...!"
