Who doesn't love Tortilla chips? Indeed, they are popular, and pricey! Especially if you have a large family to feed.

I never buy corn chips any more. When corn tortillas go on sale (as they frequently do in my area) I stock up. I hit a few cookie sheets with cooking spray and cut each tortilla into 6-8 wedges, depending on size. Give them a brief squirt with the cooking spray, then pop them into a 375 degree oven for 10-15 minutes or so, checking occasionally so they get golden, not brown.
I’ll have what amounts to a big store-bought bag for less than $1.00. And they taste great.
Crispy, crunchy, fresh and sturdy enough for that 7-layer dip. Best of all...there are no broken ones!
This technique can be used with any flatbread, wrap, lavash or flour tortilla. You can top them with seasonings, grated cheese or spices (cinnamon-sugar on flour tortillas is a wonderful treat that my grandkids love to help make.)
The possibilities are endless.

Editor's Note: Sam's Club offers a pretty good deal for On The Border chips (family size bags), our favorite, but I think we'll try Marilyn's tip next time!
