The women in my family, for generations, have been great (and economical) cooks. My mom always told me to use ALL of things - don’t waste a bit of it! One of the best money-saving tips I’ve been doing lately is focused on the kitchen and the buzz about bone broth - it’s in the news a lot lately as a way to increase health and strength and even have better-looking skin.

Let’s face it, we are all so busy and it’s hard to find the time to make bone broth since it has to simmer a LONG time for the nutrients to come out of the bones. BUYING bone broth, no matter what brand you might choose, is very expensive, too.
So, here’s something I’ve been doing lately. I buy an organic chicken and use my Paleo Rotisserie Chicken recipe. After the chicken is cooked on low for 8 hours, I take it out of the Crock Pot and pick all the chicken off the bones. I immediately put the bones back into the Crock Pot and add spices, apple cider vinegar, maybe a stalk of celery and a carrot, and lots of water. I let this cook on low all night and through the next day. Then I strain it and have some beautiful and delicious BONE BROTH.
I can drink it. I can use it for a soup stock. I can freeze it for later. But it’s like it’s FREE!
This is a great way to really get my money’s worth out of an organic chicken and increase my health and strength at the same time.
