Homemade Christmas Ornaments: Felt and Beads

Felt star ornaments 1

"Rockin' Country Christmas Stars"

Every year I create a Christmas ornament to give to our friends and family. After quitting my job this year, I was determined to keep up this tradition without spending any money. After digging through all my scraps I came up with these cute little stars that turned out to be so easy to make.

Supplies for one star:

Star cookie cutter or stencil
Felt (big enough for 2 stars, any color)
5 Spaghetti beads or long skinny beads (coordinating to the felt pieces)
Embroidery floss (similar or matching the beads) strands of 3
Approximately 3-4 inches of ribbon
Glue
Poly-fil
Scissors, needle

Instructions:

1. Trace the star onto the felt, twice. Cut out so that you have 2 stars.

2. Sew the spaghetti beads on to one of the stars to look like the points using the embroidery floss.

3. Glue the ribbon onto the back of the beaded star in a loop to act as your hanger.

4. Position your second star on the back of the beaded star (to cover up your stitches, and the tails of the ribbon).

5. Using the embroidery floss blanket stitch around the edge of the stars binding them together, just before you finish, stuff a little poly-fil inside, this helps the stars look puffy.
