Homemade Christmas Ornaments: Ugly Christmas Sweater

Homemade Christmas Ornaments: Ugly Sweater made with felt

"The Kinda Ugly Christmas Sweater Ornament".

My office was having an Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest. My (12 year old) son and I decided to create an ornament that reminded us of the fun and imagination that we had making the real sweater.

How we made the ornament:

We got out scrap bits and some paper, then we used the paper to draw the outline of a sweater (free-hand). The ornament is approximately 4"x3.5".

Then he drew what he had in mind (a tree with crooked lights on it) and we used odds and end from the scrap bin to create it.

Materials used:

Red felt, green felt, thread with a few loose seed beads on it, and a tiny plastic star-sticker for the tree top. The furry trim is a white pipe cleaner, with red candy-cane stripes that we added with a red felt pen. (We were trying to be resourceful and could not find stripped pipe cleaners). The hanger is a scrap of wire and doubles as the ornament hook. (It could also be made with a small paper clip).

We had so much fun making this together. My son decided my actual contest sweater was much uglier, and he didn’t want to call this ornament his Ugly Sweater Ornament, so we decided the best name for this ornament was "The Kinda Ugly Christmas Sweater Ornament".
